Open the Book offers a programme of themed and dramatised Bible stories at no charge to the schools. Each session is around 10-15 minutes long and fits comfortably into assembly times.

Our teams of volunteer storytellers use drama, mime, props, costume – even the children and staff themselves – to present Bible stories in ways that are lively, engaging, informative … and great fun for everyone involved!

Open the Book is running in a number of primary schools around Doncaster, offering children an opportunity to hear the major stories of the Bible as part of a three-year rolling programme.

The Open the Book work is coordinated by Linda, but is made possible through the commitment of the many volunteers who work in small teams in local schools.

This simple assembly scheme is proving to be a big hit with the children and their teachers. The stories entertain, educate and often capture the imagination of many of the children who look forward to their telling each week.

There are currently 14 teams in 27 local primary schools who take part in this scheme through DSWT.
